Is there a perfect personality for partnering?

Have you ever noticed how some people just seem to enjoy collaboration more than others? They seem open to the idea and not frightened by the concept of sharing. Then again there are others who see the world as ‘dog eat dog’ scarcity. Their prime tenet appears to be ‘If you are being successful then it must be at my expense!’

Why is this? Why is it that some people just seem to find it easier to collaborate than others? Recently I have done some work with a client in which we explored this idea particularly in relation to ‘How can you get best value from alliance training?’ The idea being that it is pointless to throw good alliance training at people who are just never going to use it. We concluded that maybe ones personality profile as defined by the Myers Briggs system might have something to do with it.

Our supposition is that an ENFP profile is perfectly suited to alliance work.

I’d be interested in other views if you have them around this topic?

Best wishes
